Warning: This post is political, though it’s not biased (probably a lie).
With the election tomorrow, let’s talk about something that hits the wallet: childcare. My sister’s daycare costs? So high, I’m considering sticking to houseplants—and Tango, my cat, who’s pretty self-sufficient. He caught a full-grown robin the other day (and proudly left the headless trophy by the door).
In some countries, childcare is covered by taxes, but here in the U.S., families pay anywhere from $8K to $18K per child! Meanwhile, childcare workers often can’t afford the same care they provide. The fallback? Friends, family, or that neighbor who says they “love kids”—and you’re hoping really means it.

So, is there a solution? Yes. What that solution is? That’s for us to decide.
What’s your experience? Do you have family or friends stepping in to help, or are you handling the daycare treadmill solo?
(Not sponsored by any candidate, but if it were, there’d be smiling nods, hand gestures, and a text asking for $5.)
